Our 1 Day Akagera National Park safari leads you to a great encounter with the Big Five. The park comprises savannah and forested areas, giving you varied sights of Rwanda. Akagera National Park lies in Eastern Rwanda on the border with Tanzania and is Rwanda’s only savannah park. It is home to plenty of mammals, including lions, elephants, giraffes, hippos, Kobs, zebras, Bushbucks, waterbucks from South Africa, making Akagera National Park a home to the Big Five mammals. The park is also home to numerous bird species in the several habitats which include swamps, lakes, woodland and savannah.

Detailed Itinerary

1 Day: Transfer to Akagera National Park (2 hrs drive)

You will be picked up early morning from your hotel at around 5 am for a day trip to Akagera National Park. The park is majorly a savannah park. The game drive towards the northern part of the park will give you opportunities of viewing; Elephants, zebras, Giraffes, Buffaloes, Impalas, Waterbucks, rhinos, the elusive leopards and recently introduced lions.

On arriving at the park, have a short briefing about the park. You will spend your day in the northern sector of the park, which hosts much wildlife because of the landscape and vegetation. An Akagera game drive can last about 6 hours, depending on the animal sightings and interest.

You will be advised to carry a packed lunch, which you will enjoy in the park. Then proceed with your game drive and extra via the northern gate later that evening. End of the tour.
