This 3 Days Murchison Falls National Park Safari leads you to the most famous and Uganda’s largest national park, which covers an area of about 3,840 square kilometres in Uganda and was gazetted as a national park in 1926. The park is dotted with the great river Nile flowing through its boundaries. It prides itself on a diversity of habitats that include woodland, wetlands, acacia savannah, grasslands and Borassus palms, which support a large number of wildlife and more than 451 bird species, such as the shoebill stork, the dwarf Kingfisher and the Great Blue Turaco and about 87 large mammals, including the Big Five mammals.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

On your first day, our experienced safari driver guide will pick you up from your hotel by 7:00am, brief you about the safari and then start the long drive to Murchison Falls National Park located in northeastern Uganda. Have lunch in Masindi and slowly make a stopover at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, the only place in Uganda to track rhinos on foot. This sanctuary is home to the rhino species, one of the big five animals, which was introduced in 2005 to restore the rhino species, which had become totally extinct in the country. Later, transfer to the park, and check into your accommodation for dinner and the overnight stay at Paraa Safari Lodge (luxury), Pukuba Safari Lodge (mid-range), or Parkside safari Lodge – Budget

Day 2: Morning Game Drive and Launch / Optional Hike to Top of Falls

Start your second day with an early morning breakfast, and then after, head out for the morning game drive where you will watch various wildlife species in different game tracks within the park. Some of the animals to see include elephants, hyenas, lions, Uganda Kobs, buffaloes and giraffes, and many more before returning to the lodge for relaxation and having a hot lunch. After lunch, you will embark on a 2-hour boat cruise of the River Nile to the bottom of the waterfalls, where you will be able to explore a great number.

Expect to encounter various wildlife along the riverbanks, including the Giant Nile Crocodiles, numbers of hippos, various birds and elephants many more. There is an option of visiting the top of the waterfalls, with a high chance of seeing the world’s most powerful waterfall. The walk can last about 45 minutes, with a great chance of enjoying the amazing scenery and beautiful vegetation. Later, you will return to your accommodation for a delightful dinner and an overnight stay as above.

Day 3: Departure to Kampala

On your final day of your safari, enjoy breakfast at the lodge, check out and then drive to the park for a final game drive in the park. After a short game drive from the park. You will drive out of the park and depart back to Kampala with lunch en route. Arrive late in the afternoon and your driver guide will drop you either at your hotel in Kampala or at the Entebbe International Airport for your scheduled flight.
