Detailed Itinerary for 6 Days of Ziwa Murchison Falls and Kidepo Wildlife Safari
Day 1: Pickup from Kampala and Transfer to Murchison Falls – Stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
After breakfast, your driver guide will pick you up from the hotel and transport you to Murchison Falls National Park, which is Uganda’s largest national park. The travel takes roughly 5 to 6 hours and includes a detour at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino tracking, followed by another stopover in Masindi for lunch.
After lunch, you will go to Murchison Falls National Park and drive immediately to the top of the falls to observe the cascade and experience water splashes, among other things. After visiting the waterfall, you’ll drive to the lodge for dinner and stay.
Day 2: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise
On day 3 of your 6 days Ziwa Murchison Falls and Kidepo Wildlife Safari, after an early breakfast, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge for a morning game drive, where you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of animals such as giraffes, buffaloes, elephants, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, lions, leopards, warthogs, and Jackson’s hartebeest, among others. After the game drive, you’ll return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will take an exciting boat cruise to the bottom of the falls, where you will be able to see animals such as elephants, antelopes, and buffaloes drinking water along the shores, as well as hippos and Nile crocodiles in the water and aquatic bird species such as hornbills, cormorants, kingfishers, bee-eaters, and fish eagles. After the intriguing boat tour, you will return to the lodge for an evening of leisure, dinner, and overnight stay, as described above.
Day 3: Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park – Afternoon Game Drive
On the second day of the 6-day Ziwa-Murchison Falls-Kidepo Wildlife Safari, you will have breakfast, check out of the hotel, and meet your driver guide to begin your journey to Kidepo Valley National Park. Upon arriving at the park, you will check into the lodge for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive to Narus Valley, which is recognised for its high concentration of animal species.
During the game drive, you will be able to see animals such as buffaloes, elephants, zebras, giraffes, waterbucks, bushbucks, Uganda kobs, oribi, elands, warthogs, and others that gather around the valley to drink water during the dry season, as well as carnivores such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, jackals, and hyenas if you are lucky, and various bird species. Following the game drive, you will go to the lodge for dinner and stay.
Day 4: Morning Game Drive and Cultural Tour
On the fourth day of your 6-days Ziwa Murchison Falls and Kidepo wildlife safari, you will have breakfast and meet your driving guide for another morning game drive, giving you the opportunity to see wildlife you missed on the previous game drive.
During the game drive, you will stop at Kanangorok hot spring to witness the mountains, animals, and birds, as well as engage with locals who visit the hot springs to pay tribute, give sacrifices, and seek blessings. After the wildlife drive, you’ll head to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch, you will travel on a cultural tour of the park, where you will meet the Karamojong people in their community. The Karamojong are formidable warrior pastoralists who live along the border between southern Sudan and Kenya.
During the cultural tour, you will see Karamojong instruments such as spears, knives, beads, and bows, as well as Manyatta homesteads. You will also learn about their culture, which allows men to marry as many wives as they want as long as they can pay a dowry for them.
You will also interact with the locals and see their tribal markings, listen to old stories, and be entertained by cultural songs, dances, and music. After the cultural trip, you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay, as described above.
Day 5: Guided nature Walk and Transfer to Gulu
On the fifth day of the 6-days Ziwa Murchison Falls and Kidepo Wildlife Safari, after an early breakfast, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge for a guided nature walk in the park, where you will be able to get up close and personal with various animals, listen to the sweet sounds of bird species, enjoy the beautiful scenery, and take beautiful photographs, among other things. Following the nature walk, you will return to the lodge for lunch, after which you will check out and meet with your driver guide to proceed to Gulu for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 6: Departure to Kampala
On the final day of the 6-days Ziwa Murchison Falls and Kidepo Wildlife Safari, after a leisurely breakfast, you will check out of the hotel and meet your driver guide for the journey to Kampala. On the way, you will stop for lunch in Gulu town before continuing on to Kampala, arriving in the evening. Upon arrival, you will be dropped off at any location advised.
